process

The research and poetry of Juna’s art explores the imaginative world of childhood, illuminating the power of being a child while honoring their expression and creative history. The artist’s creative process is entirely manual, encompassing more than seven phases. By using different mixed media materials and techniques, Juna reimagines the drawings and brings to life a whole new artwork, while preserving the child’s expressions.

1. Selection and submission of drawnings

The family selects the original drawings and send them to the artist (mail or delivery).

2. Curation and selection of drawings

The artist reviews the drawings and carefully selects the right combination in order to preserve the essence and authenticity of the child expressions.

3. Artistic creative developement

By using different mixed media materials and techniques, the drawings are enhanced and transformed into a single and unique art piece.

4. Completion and submission of the artwork

Once the piece is finished, the artwork is framed and mailed to the final destination. Along with the artwork, the artist writes a personalized letter to the child and submits a digitalized version of the art piece.

products

Once the painting is finished, you can also order other products where the digital art is applied: Moleskine notebooks, bags/toiletry bags, and fine art prints. These are great ways to gift your child’s artwork to the whole family!

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Choose one of the categories

At what age can you start creating art with drawings? At what age do you recommend starting this work?

I usually create artwork starting at age 4, at this stage of life, they already can create enough drawings to generate the art piece. I like to recommend starting around this age, because the earlier you do it, the greater the impact on the child, as they will grow and develop with their art abilities. This makes all the difference in developing their creative confidence.

I like to work with about 30 drawings/artwork to create a piece (whether abstract, hybrid, or figurative). If you don’t have that many, I suggest the family to show me what they have, and then I’ll figure out if it works. I’ve made art pieces with only 10 drawings. But the more, the better, because I can better understand the child’s creative essence and also have more creative freedom.

My art is entirely manual and analog, not digital, so I need to use physical drawings on paper. If you don’t have the original paper, I can print the digital drawings (ideally, they should be scanned, not photos taken with a cell phone).

I always recommend making your selection after contacting me and deciding to order, as I provide guidance on pre-selecting your child’s drawings according to the desired style. Remember, I always use physical originals. Drawings are sent by mail (outside São Paulo city) or by courier (São Paulo Capital).

Are the designs altered or do they maintain their original characteristics?

The original drawings receive mixed-media artistic intervention (cutting, collage, and repainting). All drawings chosen for inclusion in the work are repainted with more than three layers of paint, always prioritizing the colors the child has already chosen. When the child doesn’t color, I, as the artist, paint. Any remaining drawings are returned along with the work.

The artwork is original and unique, made using a mixed media techniques (cutting, collage, and painting) and always delivered framed. It is not a print. In addition to the framed physical artwork, if you order a piece larger than 50×50, you will also receive a digital copy (i.e., a high-resolution digital file of the physical artwork).

Yes, it’s possible to create a single piece of art with drawings from several children.. I really like this idea when it’s a gift for grandparents, aunts, uncles, teachers, etc. But when the art is for the child itself, I suggest creating a piece of art with their own drawings and not mixing it with their siblings’ drawings.

It’s not possible to purchase the products without purchasing the artwork, because the products are made by digitizing the physical artwork, meaning they are a direct result of the creation of the art piece. Remember, after the physical art piece is completed, then it’s photographed in high resolution, and it’s from this digital file that products are created.

What are the deadlines for creating the artwork?

I work with appointment bookings, so it’s important to confirm which appointments are open to reserve your spot. I usually book appointments about six months in advance. Once the spot is reserved, the deadline for artwork creation is three months after submitting the drawings. So, if you reserved your spot in October, for example, you’ll submit your drawings in early September and receive the artwork in late December.

I need to analyze each case individually to see if I can fit it into my schedule when the deadline is tighter. So, I suggest you send your request via WhatsApp and we’ll analyze it.

Yes, we ship throughout Brazil and abroad. We have customers in every Brazilian state and in several countries: England, United States, Portugal, Spain, Canada, etc.

Once you’ve decided to order, the first step is to make a reservation by paying the reservation deposit – 10% of the total artwork’s value. This reservation fee will be deducted from the final artwork price. The remaining payments are done in 3 equal installments starting at the month that the art work starts being produced. Payments in Brazil are done via PIX.

The artist

I’m Juna, a visual artist and mom. My work stems from the desire to recapture the essence of childhood creativity, expressed in saved drawings, and immortalize it as wall art!

It was through my daughter, Lara, and my immersion in the world of motherhood and childhood that I discovered myself as an artist. Her way of seeing and experiencing the world gave me a new meaning to childhood: a magical time and space immersed in freedom, curiosity, imagination, presence, and enchantment with life. My art dwells in this power of “being a child.”

The children’s drawings, artwork, and doodles stored in closets record all the emotional memories and creative energy of each child. They are the overflow of their perceptions and feelings about their world. And this universe they portray, doesn’t deserve to be forgotten in a drawer. It is the recovery of this emotional memory and visual identity that moves me as an artist.

Each work is an invitation for children to recognize themselves and be recognized in their artistic expression and, as adults, to connect with their essence.

In the end, it’s like our friend Fernando Sabino says: “When I was a boy, my elders would ask me: what do you want to be when you grow up? These days, they don’t ask anymore. If they did, I’d say I want to be a boy.”
